Cleaning Out Your Closet? Don't Throw it Out

Posted by on

With spring right around the corner, you may be feeling like a good clean out is in order. And whether you're cleaning out your closets, or your cupboards, there are organizations who could use your discarded stuff.

Local homeless shelters or other groups may need your clothing and winter items. If you're getting rid of gently used hats, gloves, scarves, or coats, consider checking with them and their needs.

Other groups, like a Goodwill organization, may resell your donated items for money. They accept most clothing and household goods.

If you're looking to get rid of things like pots and pans, or something similar, check with service groups that help people move out of shelters, and into their own places. They often have a high need of household things.

A lot of these groups see an increase in donations this time of year -- both as we're getting ready for the holidays, and also the post-holiday season. The other busy time of year for them? A change of season and weather.

If you're looking for a good spot for your donations, check your local churches, veterans groups, scout troops, and Salvation Army or Goodwill locations. Also, don't forget about social media. Some groups will post to Facebook when they have a specific need.

If the idea of tackling these projects on your own is too much to handle, give us a call! We would love to give you a free estimate!
